O.G.R.E Table Top Games Hosts

Our friends O.G.R.E are back this year to host the Table Top Games at TriCon. Table Top Gaming Schedule located at bottom of page. Click Here

Centuries ago, before television or even books, people gathered around the fire at night and entertained each other by telling stories. In the early 70’s Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson pioneered a game that was unlike any other before. The object of this game was not to win by defeating the other players, in fact the game was not designed to be won at all, but to be enjoyed as a joint story telling exercise. Everyone playing took part in cooperative narrative, together they told a story about involving characters controlled by one of each of the players, set in a world controlled by a player called the gamemaster. This cooperative story grew with each session as the characters and the world they lived in grew. Unlike any other game this game never needed to end. There was always another adventure, another story to be told. Dungeons & Dragons was set in a fantasy world drawing inspiration from J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings series, the tales of King Arthur and other such books. Years later role playing supports hundreds of games set across the gamut of genres from fantasy to sci fi, comic books, anime and manga, dark horror and any movie or book series you can name. Players get to live in the worlds of their favorite fictions. Tabletop RPG worlds are more encompassing and less limited than any computer game or card game you have ever played. Anything you can imagine, you can attempt without being limited by actions a programmer thought you may try or what cards you have drawn. RPGs encourage reading & math, teach social interaction and develop team building skills.

Organized Gamer’s Resource Evansville was founded to support the people who enjoy this creative hobby, give them a place to gather and meet others who play, and teach others how to enjoy roleplaying that don’t already play. We began at Tropicana’s convention center but now meet every Sunday from 4pm to 9pm in Messiah Lutheran church at 7700 Middle Mt Vernon Rd. We have weekly meetings, holiday parties and a welcoming membership hoping to give you a great gaming experience.
